Why Should I
Show My Dog?
The answer is simple, but has many parts.
First, showing your dog is fun! You meet other breeders and
club members. You get the opportunity to see many other fine
breeds of dogs. A lot of people will ask you about your
wonderful dog...which brings me to promotion. Shows are a
great way to promote your kennel and your breeding stock.
Always remember that both you and your dog represent our
wonderful club as well.
Do's and Don'ts of Showing
 |
- Your dog should be
immaculately groomed. (See the
Grooming
Guide.)
- Train your dog to stand
on a grooming table and to stand still. HINT: Use a
mirror where the judge would typically stand to get a
judge's view.
- Train your dog to walk on
a leash.
- Act in a professional
manner when in the ring and out.
- Don't ever take a dog in
the ring that is in poor health.
- Don't ever take a dirty
or poorly groomed dog in the ring. Your dog should not
have more than 5 days growth from a fresh clip.
- Don't take a dog in the
ring that is not lead broke.
- Don't take a dog in the
ring that has not been table-trained.
- Never be rude to a judge
or anyone else inside or outside the ring.
- Never touch someone
else's dog in the ring unless you have asked and been
given permission.
-
REMEMBER...You and your dog
represent the Mi-Ki breed and our club.
